Reality TV star, actress, and dancer Roseline Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has opened up about being stereotyped in the entertainment industry. Known widely for her dance skills, Liquorose revealed that many overlooked her acting abilities — despite the fact that she originally started out as an actress.
In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Liquorose, who played ‘Abebi’ in the movie Lisabi, shared her excitement about finally being recognized for her acting. “It feels amazing because I think I’ve been a victim of stereotyping. People often said I was just a dancer and should stick to that. So, seeing people appreciate me as an actress now is truly rewarding,” she said.
When asked if she was transitioning from dance to acting, she clarified, “I’m not switching careers. I actually came into the industry as an actress. I featured in the popular TV series The Johnsons back in 2012. Acting and dancing go hand in hand — they’re both forms of entertainment.”
Reflecting on her experience in Lisabi, Liquorose expressed gratitude for the impact it had on her career. “Being part of Lisabi really opened doors for me in the acting world. It was a huge opportunity. I’m grateful to Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe for trusting me with the role. People started to take me more seriously after that, and I’ve since landed more acting gigs.”
