Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a groin injury, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The French international sustained the injury during Los Blancos’ 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe on Wednesday.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the left adductor tendon,” the club said in an official statement.
Spanish media reports indicate that Camavinga will miss Saturday’s highly anticipated Copa del Rey final against arch-rivals Barcelona, as well as Madrid’s remaining five league fixtures as they try to catch the league leaders.
There are also growing concerns that the 22-year-old could miss the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States this summer, with recovery estimated to take around three months.
Camavinga has faced challenges with form this season, despite playing a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League double last year.
