Peter Obi Denies Issuing Statement on PDP, ADC Allegiance
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has disowned a statement circulating in the media which claimed he denied joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reaffirmed loyalty to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released Tuesday in Abuja by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi firmly distanced himself from the purported remarks.
“The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has been made aware of a fake statement attributed to our principal, denying joining the PDP and reaffirming allegiance to the ADC,” the release stated.
It emphasized that Obi remains fully committed to his vision of building a “New Nigeria” and has not deviated from his ongoing engagement in coalition talks. The media office stressed that any position taken by Obi will be communicated through official channels.
“Peter Obi has been clear and consistent in his stance during coalition discussions and does not require anyone to speak on his behalf,” the statement added. “He will not tolerate false attributions crafted to serve personal or political agendas.”
The POMR urged the public to disregard any statements not issued through Obi’s verified media office or official social media handles.
