President Bola Tinubu has named retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saddiq Kaita as the New Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano.
AVM Kaita takes over from Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also serves as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). The appointment aims to allow Dr. Gawuna to focus fully on his FHA responsibilities.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, highlighted AVM Kaita’s extensive experience and contributions to national service.
“Before retiring from the Nigerian Air Force, AVM Saddiq Ismaila Kaita served as Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation. He is widely recognised for his efforts in training and standardisation within the Air Force,” the statement noted.
AVM Kaita’s appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening leadership in key institutions across the country.
