This endorsement was announced on Monday during the official campaign flag-off and inauguration of the campaign council for Bolarinwa Oluwole, PDP’s candidate in the upcoming Remo Federal Constituency bye-election. The event was held at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland in Sagamu.

State PDP Chairman, Abayomi Tella, stated that the endorsement was based on regional loyalty, emphasizing Tinubu’s South-West roots.

“We will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he is in the opposition, let us support our own from the South-West. Our support is for Tinubu, and we will stand by him,” Tella declared. “We are ready to give him our votes. All we want in that election is fairness and justice.”

Addressing recent defections from the PDP to the ruling APC—including that of former deputy governorship candidate Adekunle Akinlade—Tella dismissed them as politically insignificant.

“Those who left—what did they contribute to the party? Even their polling units, they couldn’t deliver. We are not moved by that,” he added.

Ladi Adebutu echoed similar sentiments, stating that the party held no grievances with President Tinubu or his leadership.

“I was with the President in January and I told him that we have no issue with his leadership and candidacy,” Adebutu said. However, he criticised Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, accusing him of poor governance, which he said the PDP would challenge in 2027.

Adebutu also underscored the importance of winning the upcoming bye-election in Remo Federal Constituency, describing it as a chance to push back against misgovernance.

“We must use this opportunity to punish bad governance and restore sanity,” he urged party supporters.

PDP’s candidate, Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole, promised quality representation if elected. He aims to fill the seat left vacant by the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who passed away in January after a brief illness.

The National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Engr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, formally presented the party flag to Oluwole, signaling the party’s full backing for the bye-election campaign.
