Sources revealed that Wike’s allies emerged as candidates in at least 15 local government areas under the banners of both parties, reflecting his continued grip on the state’s political structure despite party divides.

Of the 15 chairmanship candidates named so far, 11 reportedly emerged through the Tony Okocha-led APC faction, which is aligned with Wike and elements within the state PDP leadership.

Prominent APC candidates believed to be loyal to the former Rivers governor include Onengiyeofori George (Asari-Toru), Charles Wobodo (Ikwerre), Thomas Bariere Ariar (Khana), Mbakpone Okpe (Tai), Akuro Tobin (Okrika), Uchechukwu Obasi (Omuma), Michael Williams (Degema), Vincent Nemioboka (Ogu/Bolo), Owolobi Ofori (Abua/Odual), Chima Njoku (Etche), and Confidence Dekor (Gokana).

Within the PDP, Wike’s political camp also produced candidates such as Chidi Lloyd (Emohua), Shedrack Chukwu (Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni), Allwell Ihunda (Port Harcourt), and Gift Worlu (Obio/Akpor).

The emergence of Wike’s allies across both major political parties underscores his strategic alliances and enduring relevance in Rivers State politics. Political observers view the development as a consolidation of Wike’s political base ahead of future national or state-level contests.
