The high-level meeting brought together the Commissioners of Police from states bordering the FCT, State Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), and Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The G-7 security committee forms a collaborative front linking the FCT with Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States to jointly tackle cross-border threats. Recent concerns have included banditry, kidnapping, arms proliferation, human and drug trafficking, car theft, and the rise of religious extremism.
According to a statement issued by FCT Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the session reviewed progress made in ongoing operations and explored both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to enhance security coordination.
The deliberations underscored the need for intelligence-driven strategies, improved synergy among security agencies, and the adoption of proactive measures to safeguard residents within the FCT and its adjoining states.
At the close of the meeting, security chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining joint operations and strengthening collaboration in order to effectively counter cross-border crimes threatening peace and stability in the region.
