Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, credited the record performance to growing confidence in the digital platform, the resilience of officers, and the Command’s continuous operational improvements despite recurring network challenges.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Tunde Ayagbalo, Comptroller Olomu expressed gratitude to stakeholders and officers for their commitment. He stressed that the revenue boost reflects the increasing trust of importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders who transact business through the nation’s premier port in Apapa.
Olomu also commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, for spearheading confidence-building engagements with stakeholders, noting that his leadership has significantly enhanced the adoption and efficiency of the UCMS platform.
Reassuring the trading community, Olomu disclosed that the NCS leadership has directed the ICT/Modernisation Department at its headquarters to ensure continued system upgrades by promptly resolving technical issues and offering robust user support.
“Our collection of ₦215 billion using the B’Odogwu platform confirms progress in our ongoing journey to build a dependable system for trade facilitation in Nigeria. This is a collective success, and we remain committed to greater achievements in the months ahead,” Olomu stated.
The Customs chief expressed optimism that the UCMS will continue to surpass user expectations, while contributing substantially to Nigeria’s trade facilitation drive and economic growth.
