As of press time, no official statement has been released by the oil company to explain the reason behind the latest hike.
A visit to several NNPC stations in Lagos revealed that attendants were seen adjusting their pumps to reflect the new price. At the NNPC filling station located along Ogunusi Road, Ojodu Berger, attendants confirmed that they were instructed to change the rate to ₦992 per litre.
However, checks at the NNPC outlet in Ibafo, along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway, showed that the old price of ₦875 per litre was still displayed, though the station was not dispensing fuel to customers.
Most NNPC stations visited were not selling petrol, leaving motorists stranded and sparking renewed concerns over possible fuel scarcity.
