Governor Mbah, who previously served as the committee’s secretary under the leadership of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, was dropped following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
The PDP’s elective national convention is scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Senator Obi, who once represented Anambra Central in the Senate, was the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2007 presidential election under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
In a statement issued after the NWC meeting, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the party remains focused and united ahead of the national convention.
“The NWC, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), has approved the appointment of Senator Ben Ndi Obi as Secretary of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) for the conduct of the 2025 PDP Elective National Convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan,” the statement read.
“The NWC commends the NCOC under the chairmanship of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for its tireless efforts toward the success of the 2025 National Convention and urges all party members to remain steadfast and united for the progress of the PDP.”
