This was disclosed in a Strike Bulletin No. 2, issued by the National Strike Coordinating Committee (NSCC) and signed by its Chairman, Dr. Christopher Piwuna, over the weekend.
The development comes a week after the union declared a two-week warning strike, which has since paralysed academic activities in public universities across the country.
According to the bulletin, discussions with the government have yielded positive outcomes in several areas, including the release of third-party deductions, payment of promotion arrears, and mainstreaming of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA).
Other issues under review include the confiscation of University of Abuja land and the victimisation of union members at Kogi State University (KSU), Lagos State University (LASU), and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
Dr. Piwuna commended members for their unity and steadfastness during the industrial action, urging them to remain resolute until all pending matters are resolved.
“Our members have shown exemplary commitment to the struggle. We must remain united and resolute in the few days ahead,” the statement read in part.
The warning strike, which began last Monday, is expected to end next week Monday, though the union has not ruled out further action if negotiations stall.
