A statement issued by the management of the NRC in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday explained that the temporary suspension of the service was necessary to allow for critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
According to the statement, the online booking portal will reopen at 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025—48 hours ahead of the resumption date—to enable passengers to book their tickets in advance through the portal or at designated stations.
“The Warri–Itakpe Train Service will commence operations with seven coaches—six standard class and one business class. The updated timetable, which includes temporary speed restrictions for safety and operational monitoring, will also be released on Monday,” the statement read.
The corporation expressed regret for the inconvenience caused during the period of suspension and appreciated passengers and stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
The Managing Director of NRC, Kayode Opeifa, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail services across the country.
“We assure our passengers that safety remains our top priority as we resume full operations on the Warri–Itakpe line,” Opeifa said.
