Governor Adeleke, who was screened at the PDP National Secretariat, Legacy House, Abuja, alongside other aspirants, expressed confidence in his re-election bid after the closed-door session.
The exercise had in attendance top party leaders, including the South West Vice Chairman, Kamarudeen Ajisafe; Osun State PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi; Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye; and Commissioners Dr. B.T. Salami and Rev. Bunmi Jenyo.
Speaking after the screening, Adeleke stated that his administration had fulfilled its promises to the people of Osun, claiming that his government’s performance had earned widespread support.
“We have delivered good governance to our people. Our records and popularity are unmatched. With the backing of our people and faith in God, we are confident of victory in 2026,” the governor declared.
He also expressed optimism that the Federal Government would ensure a credible election process, noting that his administration’s achievements in less than three years have strengthened public confidence.
However, the Osun APC described the PDP screening as a “face-saving move,” alleging that it followed Governor Adeleke’s failed attempt to defect to the opposition party.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC accused the governor of presiding over a “shallow and wasteful” administration, claiming over ₦60 billion had been spent on the Governor’s Office in 35 months without significant achievements, including the recruitment of teachers.
The party further alleged that Adeleke’s administration mismanaged education funding and misled over 32,000 citizens through a fraudulent teacher recruitment exercise.
“The people of Osun have already screened him out based on his performance,” the statement read. “The coming election is for the PDP to lose, given the poor public perception of their government.”
The APC said it remains confident of reclaiming Osun in 2026, insisting that the governor’s re-election bid is “doomed to fail.”
