Speaking in his hometown, Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, shortly after being declared winner by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie of the University of Benin, Soludo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field, describing him as a “true democrat.”
Soludo won across all 21 local government areas of Anambra State, securing victory in 320 of the 326 wards. He polled 422,662 votes, representing 72 percent of the total ballots cast. His closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, scored 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Paul Chukwuma, came third with 37,753 votes, while the Labour Party’s George Moghalu and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, John Nwosu, polled 10,576 and 8,208 votes respectively.
The governor, who said his administration was moving “from gear three to gear four,” pledged to intensify efforts in governance and development in his second term.
“This is a moment to say congratulations to the Anambra people. Four years ago, we were elected with 112,000 votes, but this time, you spoke loudly with your votes. We won 21 local governments, and that is a very emphatic statement,” Soludo said.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he described as a credible and technology-driven election, noting that over 99 percent of results were uploaded on the IReV portal before midnight on election day.
While extending a hand of fellowship to his opponents, Soludo urged them to join him in building a greater Anambra. “We have fought, but we remain brothers. I extend my hand of friendship to all of you,” he said.
Governors across the country have continued to send congratulatory messages to Soludo, describing his victory as well-deserved and reflective of the people’s confidence in his leadership.
