Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release the long-awaited forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), asserting that the document contains serious allegations implicating former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike boldly declared that he would resign from his ministerial post if the report, once made public, fails to indict Amaechi.

“I’m urging Mr President—release the forensic audit. If the things I’ve said are not in that report, I’ll resign. I am not desperate to hold onto any office,” Wike stated.

He alleged that Amaechi’s wife received monthly payments of N4 billion from the NDDC under the pretense of women empowerment programs in the Niger Delta. According to Wike, this is one of several revelations allegedly documented in the audit report, which he claims was deliberately suppressed by former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Further criticizing Amaechi’s conduct while serving as Rivers State Governor, Wike accused him of improper dealings with contractors and questioned the source of a luxury Rolls-Royce linked to the former minister, dismissing rumors that it was a gift from a senator. Instead, Wike claimed it came from a contractor heavily involved in state projects during Amaechi’s administration.

He also dismissed Amaechi’s academic credentials as “underwhelming,” suggesting they lacked the rigor expected of a national figure.

Wike insisted that the concealment of the audit findings was part of a broader effort to shield politically exposed individuals, adding that Nigerians have a right to know the truth.
