Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday participated in the ongoing local government elections by casting their votes at Polling Unit 006, Ward E, situated at St. Stephen’s Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island.

The couple arrived at the polling unit and exercised their civic duty around 11:00 a.m., joining other residents in electing the chairman and councillors for the Lagos Island Local Government Area.

According to reports, voting commenced at 8:00 a.m. across the polling units. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, was also among the early voters at the same location.

The local government election is taking place across the 20 constitutionally recognized Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.

Election observers and residents reported a peaceful voting process in most areas, with security personnel present to maintain order.
