Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been secretly relocated from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, where he had reported on Wednesday in response to an official invitation.
According to sources close to the activist, Sowore was detained by the police shortly after his arrival at the FID premises. He later accused the authorities of harassment, unlawful detention, and abuse of power.
The circumstances surrounding his transfer remain unclear, as the police have yet to issue an official statement regarding his current whereabouts. Concerns are mounting among his supporters and rights groups over what they describe as a violation of due process and an attempt to silence dissent.
