In a statement issued by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Roseline Adakayi, the university praised Professor Lar for her “purposeful leadership, academic stability, and commitment to institutional progress,” noting her role in initiating the process to appoint a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Adamu will work closely with the Governing Council, led by Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, to conclude the ongoing recruitment process in accordance with statutory provisions.

A distinguished veterinary scholar with over 27 years of professional experience, Professor Adamu earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Maiduguri in 1998, his Master’s degree in 2006, and a PhD in Veterinary Surgery from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2012. He is a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria and holds a South African patent for an innovative anthelmintic medicament.

His career includes notable academic and administrative leadership roles, including serving as Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, and as President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria. He has also supervised numerous postgraduate research projects, contributed extensively to curriculum development, and published over 50 scholarly works.
