According to a statement issued on Tuesday, Odeh assumes the role of Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Adewunmi takes up the position of Chief Relations Officer. The national oil giant described both appointees as “seasoned executives,” stressing that the move underscores its commitment to strengthening public engagement and stakeholder relations across its operations.

Extensive Industry Experience

Odeh, a veteran communications professional with over 30 years of experience in oil and gas, advertising, and broadcast, spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG Limited. There, he held senior roles in corporate communications, regulatory compliance, public affairs, logistics, and community relations. He is credited with managing the company’s rebranding, implementing a highly successful micro-credit scheme for host communities, and establishing the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting.

A graduate of the University of Jos and the University of Lagos, Odeh is also an alumnus of INSEAD Business School and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.

Adewunmi, on her part, brings over 25 years of legal and regulatory experience in the oil and gas industry, having served with the Shell Companies in Nigeria. She held key positions as Regulatory Affairs Manager and later Government Relations Manager. The NNPCL highlighted her expertise in stakeholder management, non-technical risk assessment, and regulatory affairs.

The Olabisi Onabanjo University-trained lawyer, who was called to the Nigerian Bar after attending the Nigerian Law School, is described as a leader with strong emotional intelligence and a proven ability to build strategic stakeholder networks.

Strategic Timing

NNPCL emphasized that the appointments of Odeh and Adewunmi are both strategic and timely, coming as the company continues its restructuring efforts to improve public trust and deepen engagement with host communities, regulators, and international partners.

“The appointment of Mr. Odeh and Mrs. Adewunmi reflects NNPC Limited’s commitment to enhancing communication and stakeholder engagement,” the statement noted.

Kogi Tribune understands that the latest appointments align with NNPCL’s ongoing reforms as it seeks to strengthen its image and foster stronger partnerships both locally and globally.
