ankwaso made this known while receiving Buhari Bakwana, a former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside APC stakeholders from the 44 local government areas of Kano State, at his Miller Road residence in Kano.
He emphasized that the NNPP had built a formidable structure nationwide, with gubernatorial candidates across all states, and therefore deserved strong assurances before any political alliance could be sealed.
“If you are asking us to join APC, you must tell us what NNPP will gain. We have gubernatorial candidates in all the states and full structures nationwide. What will you offer them if we join?” Kwankwaso asked.
The former Defence Minister recalled that during APC’s eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, his political camp was sidelined and unappreciated. He also accused the PDP of failing to accommodate his demands when he sought the position of a zonal chairman for his group, a situation that led to his peaceful exit.
“Eight years of APC under Buhari gave us nothing, not even appreciation. In PDP, we asked for just a zonal party chairman, but they refused. We left peacefully and today we are strong and have integrity,” he said.
Kwankwaso maintained that while he remained open to the idea of joining the APC, it would only happen under “strong conditions and promises,” stressing that he would not allow himself or his party to be “used and dumped again.”
