According to the prosecution, the Kogi-born lawmaker is accused of making statements “with reason to believe such imputations would harm the reputation of a person.” The case, filed under Section 391 of the Penal Code, Cap 89, Laws of the Federation 1990, is punishable under Section 392.
At an earlier proceeding, the court admitted Senator Natasha to bail in the sum of ₦50 million with one surety in like sum.
Court documents indicate that the case was officially filed on May 16, 2025, with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan listed as the sole defendant.
Meanwhile, the senator is also facing a separate case before Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, where she has been arraigned on six counts of alleged criminal defamation and cyberbullying.
