Speaking on his political plans after rejoining the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this year, Jandor argued that Tinubu’s dominance across the country has deepened since 2023, despite losing Lagos State to Labour Party candidate Peter Obi during the last presidential race.
“2027, not only in Lagos but in the entire country, is going to be a walkover for the man whose courage has given us a lot in this country today,” he said.
Jandor explained that his former political structure, the Lagos for Lagos Movement, which opposed Tinubu in 2023, has now realigned with the ruling party. According to him, this shift means the surprises witnessed in the last election will not be repeated.
Tinubu secured victory in the highly contested 2023 presidential election, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and other candidates. His defeat in Lagos was, however, considered a symbolic setback.
Declares 2027 Lagos Governorship Bid
Jandor, who came third in the 2023 governorship contest behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (APC) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (Labour Party), also announced that he will once again vie for the governorship seat of Lagos in 2027.
“What you heard yesterday is for us to once again express our capacity and give a shot to the same seat that we gunned for during the last electioneering process,” he said.
With no presidential vacancy until 2031, Jandor emphasised his focus on Lagos, stressing that the APC will eventually rally around whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.
He also welcomed the prospect of facing Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, in the APC primaries, describing him as qualified to run and pledging full support if he secures the party’s ticket.
Jandor’s return to APC in March was framed as a homecoming, with the politician insisting he was rejoining a party that prioritises winning above all else.
As 2027 draws closer, his bold predictions about Tinubu and his own renewed governorship bid are expected to stir intense debate within Lagos’ political space.
