Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on September 26 ordered the NMA President to constitute a team of medical experts to evaluate Kanu’s health and determine whether he is fit to continue standing trial on terrorism-related charges.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Suraj Sa’ada (SAN), informed the court that the NMA panel was still working on the assignment. He explained that the experts were taking their time to ensure a comprehensive and accurate medical evaluation.
Sa’ada requested an additional one week for the panel to complete its work. The defence counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), did not oppose the request, prompting Justice Omotosho to adjourn the matter until October 16 for further hearing.
