The governor made the announcement when the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, paid him a courtesy visit in Umuahia. Otti also revealed that his administration had approved the payment of financial entitlements to the next-of-kin of deceased Abia civil servants, covering over 16 years of unpaid benefits.
Ajaero, in his remarks, commended Governor Otti for his impressive infrastructural strides and cordial relationship with the labour movement. He appealed for the allocation of land for the construction of a befitting NLC secretariat and also requested an operational vehicle to support the union’s activities in the state.
The NLC President further urged the Abia State branch of the Congress to begin direct remittance of the statutory 10% monthly check-off dues to the national headquarters, in line with the Congress’ financial regulations.
Governor Otti assured the NLC leadership of continued collaboration and expressed his commitment to ensuring the welfare and rights of Abia workers remain a top priority.
