In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, Fagbemi explained that the process was still undergoing final administrative reviews to ensure full legal compliance.
He stated that after the Council of State’s approval, the final step involves the issuance of instruments authorising each release — a stage that allows a last review before forwarding to the Controller-General of Corrections for execution.
The AGF emphasized that the government was not delaying the process but adhering strictly to legal and procedural standards.
He added that the public would be duly informed once all checks were concluded, stressing that the rule of law “does not rush; it ensures fairness.”
Fagbemi also appreciated Nigerians for their vigilance and constructive feedback, saying such engagement strengthens the nation’s justice system.
