The initiative, according to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), aims to stabilise domestic fuel supply and tackle speculation within the downstream sector.
Speaking on Thursday, Chinedu Ukadike, National Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, said the refinery recently held a strategic meeting with 20 major marketers, including A.Y.M. Shafa, A.A. Rano, NNPCL Retail, and Salbas, among others, to finalise the new framework.
“Dangote announced that only 20 selected marketers will lift petrol directly from the refinery as primary distributors. Each will load a minimum of two million litres, translating to about 600 million litres every month,” Ukadike explained.
He noted that the plan was designed to eliminate unnecessary middlemen, ensure efficiency, and bring down retail prices nationwide.
IPMAN National Vice President, Hammed Fashola, also confirmed the arrangement, adding that the final list of marketers would soon be released.
Meanwhile, pump prices across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have continued to fluctuate. Stations such as Optima Energy raised their prices from ₦945 to ₦955 per litre, A.A. Rano sells at ₦945, and A.Y.M. Shafa at ₦940 per litre.
Independent marketers attributed the price hikes to supply delays and depot pricing inconsistencies. Some depots reportedly increased prices when Dangote Refinery temporarily paused loading operations.
IPMAN President, Abubakar Shettima, said depot owners exploited the situation:
“These DAPPMAN people raised their ex-depot prices when Dangote stopped loading for a few days. But once Dangote resumes fully, prices will drop again. It’s a temporary situation.”
In a related development, the refinery also reduced the ex-depot price of diesel (AGO) by ₦50 per litre — from ₦960 to ₦910, effective October 15, 2025.
According to a notice from the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations Department titled “AGO Gantry Price Reduction,” Dangote thanked its customers for their continued support and assured that the price adjustment aims to provide relief to transporters and industrial users.
