In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo, criticised opposition groups for lacking direction and ideology, describing them as “a coalition of desperation, confusion, and hypocrisy.”
Oladejo said Nigeria’s democracy thrives on credible opposition but lamented that the current opposition blocs “have failed woefully” in providing constructive criticism or viable alternatives to government policies.
“The strength of any democracy depends on the quality, depth, and seriousness of its opposition,” he stated. “Unfortunately, today’s opposition lacks leadership, cohesion, and ideology. Many politicians who once claimed to hold principles now switch parties for personal gain. They are united only by their hunger for power.”
Drawing a comparison with the political legacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Lagos APC said Tinubu’s era of opposition politics was rooted in strategic coalition-building, intellectual engagement, and discipline — principles that birthed the APC and led to its 2015 electoral victory.
“President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is built on performance, reforms, and empowerment, while the opposition continues to wallow in propaganda and blind ambition,” Oladejo said.
He accused opposition parties of failing to provide clear solutions on key issues such as the economy, security, and education, arguing that their tactics have contributed to “noise, confusion, and growing voter apathy.”
The statement urged Nigerians to “see through the façade of this rudderless opposition” and to judge by results when the 2027 elections arrive.
“The 2027 elections will be a referendum on performance, vision, and stability,” Oladejo concluded. “Under President Bola Tinubu, the APC remains the only party offering credible leadership and national direction.”
