CCB Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Bello, disclosed this in Abuja while presenting his one-year stewardship report. The statement, signed by the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Moses Atolagbe, was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
According to Bello, the investigations — FIFAU’s first major assignment — exposed several inconsistencies in the asset declarations of some public officials, leading to enforcement actions meant to promote transparency and accountability in government.
He revealed that the bureau had verified the asset forms of nine ministers, 43 permanent secretaries, and 40 federal directors, describing the process as part of efforts to strengthen ethical compliance in public service.
“The verification exercise is a continuous one aimed at building a robust compliance monitoring system,” Bello stated.
In his one year in office, the CCB boss said the bureau introduced an online asset declaration platform accessible via www.ccb.gov.ng, allowing public officers to complete and download Form-1 digitally. The innovation, he said, has saved millions of naira previously spent on printing manual forms.
He added that 199 staff members of the bureau had been trained in investigation, verification, forensic analysis, and ethical governance, while zonal offices headed by directors were established to handle intelligence gathering, enforcement, and prosecution support.
To boost enforcement capacity, the bureau partnered with EFCC, ICPC, DSS, NFIU, and several international agencies and foreign embassies. The CCB, he said, is now represented in global anti-corruption platforms such as the Cambridge Economic Crime Forum and U.S. IVLO 2025, positioning Nigeria as a leader in continental transparency efforts.
Bello also confirmed that the bureau had joined the Association of Commonwealth Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa, further expanding Nigeria’s regional cooperation against corruption.
Reaffirming the bureau’s new operational mantra, “Declare or Forfeit,” Bello warned public officials to declare their assets honestly or face sanctions, adding that his leadership remains committed to institutional integrity and transparency.
Bello was appointed CCB Chairman on October 23, 2024, by President Bola Tinubu, with a mandate to overhaul the bureau’s operations and promote good governance across all levels of public service.
