Jibrin, who made the announcement on Sunday, confirmed his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement issued on Monday, Jibrin said his decision was driven by his renewed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for Nigeria’s future.

The lawmaker was received by a massive crowd of supporters in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area, where he publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.

During the event, over 2,000 Islamic clerics (Ulamas) offered special prayers for President Tinubu, seeking divine guidance, peace, and development for Kano State and the country at large.

Jibrin’s defection marks his return to the APC just two months after his expulsion from the NNPP over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues.

He expressed appreciation to his former party and its leadership for their previous support, urging his followers to join him in what he described as a “progressive journey” with the APC.

“I am grateful for the opportunity I had with the NNPP, but it’s time to move forward. I believe in the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu and will give my full support to ensure its success,” Jibrin stated.

His return is expected to further strengthen the APC’s political base in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
