Chevron Nigeria gets new chairman

Chevron Nigeria Limited has appointed a new Chairman and Managing Director, Jim Swartz.

This was contained in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday by the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs Chevron Nigeria Limited, Esimaje Brikinn.

According to the statement, Swartz was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, effective April 1, 2024.

Until his appointment, Swartz was the Vice President of Capital Projects based in Houston, USA.

“He brings a wealth of experience in upstream business and a proven ability to build effective partnerships with stakeholders,” the statement said.

Swartz is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Geology and obtained a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Oklahoma.

The statement noted that he joined Chevron in 1990 as a geologist in Louisiana and had since held positions of increasing responsibility in Angola and the United States.

It added that Swartz replaced Richard Kennedy, who had elected to retire after almost 40 years of service to the company.
