The payment, made through the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), forms part of the ₦32,000 pension increment recently approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for eligible retirees nationwide.
According to PTAD, the funds were released across four major pension departments: Parastatals, Civil Service, Police, and Customs, Immigration, and Prisons.
A breakdown of the disbursement shows:
- ₦1.9bn to 59,865 pensioners in the Parastatals Pension Department
- ₦830m to 12,976 pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department
- ₦620m to 9,689 Police pensioners
- ₦551m to 8,616 pensioners in Customs, Immigration, and Prisons
Speaking on the development, PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to settle outstanding pension liabilities and improve the welfare of retirees.
She described the completion of the payment as “a clear demonstration” of the administration’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our pensioners deserve dignity and financial security,” Odunaiya said. “We are working to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left behind as we continue clearing arrears and strengthening transparency in pension administration.”
She assured that PTAD would continue monitoring payments to ensure all retirees receive their full entitlements promptly.
