Speaking on a privately owned radio programme, Frank Talk, monitored on Monday, Ajisafe stated that the deepening crisis within the PDP makes it unlikely for the party to field a candidate for the upcoming election.
He recalled that the party suffered a similar setback in Ekiti State due to the rebellion allegedly led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, stressing that the same circumstances are now pushing Governor Adeleke to consider alternatives.
According to him, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) setting December 15 as the deadline for party primaries ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, the PDP is not in a position to organise a valid primary.
Ajisafe argued that no reasonable political leader would risk losing the opportunity to seek re-election, especially when the internal crisis of his party threatens such prospects.
He added that if the PDP is unable to present a candidate, Governor Adeleke would have no choice but to seek another platform that allows him to contest.
Sources within Osun political circles suggest that Governor Adeleke is already exploring options in the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). While some insiders claim discussions with Accord Party leaders are ongoing, others say the governor is weighing multiple options to ensure he secures a viable ticket.
