BREAKING: Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Security Chiefs at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with the nation’s service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at his official residence in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
PUNCH Online observed a steady stream of vehicles transporting top military officials into the Villa earlier this afternoon, indicating the commencement of the high-level security meeting around 3:00 p.m.
The meeting comes amid rising insecurity in several parts of the country, particularly in Plateau, Benue, and Borno States, where recent attacks have left scores dead and thousands displaced.
Sources close to the Presidency confirmed that the urgent meeting had been scheduled to assess the deteriorating security situation and to discuss strategies for addressing it. The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, is also in attendance.
President Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday night after an 18-day working trip to Paris and London, during which he continued to receive security briefings and issued directives remotely to military leaders.
“The President is very concerned about the spate of violence, especially in Plateau, Benue, and Borno. He’s meeting with the service chiefs and relevant ministers to review the situation and evaluate the effectiveness of current responses,” a senior official told KOGI NEWS TRIBUNE Online.
In Benue State, at least 56 people were reportedly killed in the Logo and Gbagir communities following twin attacks attributed to armed herders. Despite a military presence, the violence has led to the burning of numerous homes and the displacement of over 3,000 people.
