In a statement released via its official X account on Friday, the union noted that contrary to widespread speculation, it had not yet formally announced the commencement of the industrial action.
“To whom it may concern, no official declaration of strike has been made,” the union stated.
The clarification comes days after ASUU warned that it would shut down all public universities due to the Federal Government’s alleged failure to address outstanding issues, including their rejected 35 per cent salary increment.
ASUU had suspended its warning strike in October to allow room for negotiations with the government, but key demands remain unresolved.
The academic community and students nationwide await further communication from the union as the deadline approaches.
