Oduah was brought before the court by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), on a five-count charge including conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretences.

One of the charges alleged that Oduah fraudulently obtained ₦2.4 billion from the Federal Ministry of Aviation through Broad Waters Resources, claiming the funds were meant for technical supervision. The alleged offence was said to have occurred in January 2014.

Other counts accused the former minister of fraudulently receiving ₦1.6 billion and an additional ₦839 million through similar means, in violation of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act.

Oduah was arraigned alongside her co-defendant, Gloria Odita. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

During the proceedings, Oduah was represented by Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), while Gloria Odita was represented by Wale Balogun (SAN).

Justice Hamza Muazu admitted Oduah to bail based on self-recognition but ordered her to surrender her international passport to the court. He also barred her from travelling outside Nigeria without express permission from the court.

This arraignment marks the second time the Federal Government is prosecuting the former minister on similar allegations. An earlier case, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Federal High Court in Abuja, was previously withdrawn.
