I Have the Capacity to Be President, Says Seyi Makinde
Oyo State Governor and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, Seyi Makinde, has declared that he possesses the capacity to become Nigeria’s president.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Makinde said while he believes he has what it takes to lead the country, his current focus is on strengthening his party.
“I have no doubt that I have the capacity to occupy the highest office in this land. But right now, we need to fix our party. We need a solid platform before anyone can aspire to any position,” Makinde said. “If my political journey ends here, I’ll still be content.”
Responding to questions about a possible presidential run in 2027, Makinde maintained that he would not be pressured by public speculation or external agendas.
“Nobody will set an agenda for me. I will set my own agenda. Right now, I’m focused on the mandate given to me by the people of Oyo State,” he said. “I won’t play to the gallery or engage in political stunts. My priority is delivering good governance, building sustainable infrastructure, and ensuring the welfare of our people.”
Makinde concluded by saying he would reveal his political intentions at the appropriate time, assuring that any decision he makes will be well-considered and rooted in accountability.
