The directive was contained in an official circular issued on Friday, highlighting “heightened security risks” and stressing the urgency of protecting students and staff from potential harm.
According to the document, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, approved the decision. The circular was signed on his behalf by the Director of Senior Secondary Education, Binta Abdulkadir.
Principals of all affected schools have been instructed to enforce the closure without delay, pending further directives from the Ministry.
The move comes amid concerns from security agencies and stakeholders about increasing attacks on educational institutions across the country. The government said the temporary closure is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing avoidable incidents.
