In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by its Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, LAMATA said the extended schedule was approved to handle the anticipated surge in passenger traffic before and after the annual event.
According to the agency, the LRMT Blue Line will run beyond its usual closing time on Friday.
“The LRMT Blue Line will operate longer hours on Friday, December 5, 2025, until 11:43 pm, instead of its normal 9:30 pm closing time,”
the statement read.
For Saturday, December 6, 2025, operations will commence as early as 4:00 am and run until 9:30 pm.
LAMATA added that the LRMT Red Line will also operate on Friday, maintaining its regular schedule—6:00 am to 10:00 am for the morning peak and 5:20 pm to 8:40 pm for the evening peak. The Red Line, however, will not run on Saturday.
The agency emphasised that all operations on both lines will return to the normal timetable from Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Residents were reminded that access to both the Blue and Red lines requires the use of Cowry Cards, and commuters were advised to plan their movements early, follow station instructions, and cooperate with officials for a seamless travel experience throughout the event weekend.
LAMATA encouraged passengers attending The Experience 2025 to take advantage of the extended service for ease of movement to and from Lagos Island.
The Experience, founded in 2006 by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church, is regarded as Africa’s largest gospel music concert. The annual all-night worship gathering at Tafawa Balewa Square has consistently attracted hundreds of thousands of people and features both Nigerian and international gospel artistes.
In recent years, the event has adopted hybrid formats, livestreaming performances to global audiences each December.
