The faction issued a formal disclaimer on Wednesday through its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, warning Nigerians to beware of “impostors” who continue to parade themselves as PDP members despite their removal.

The statement noted that the affected individuals were expelled by the National Executive Committee on November 18 under provisions of the amended 2017 PDP Constitution.

The expelled members include Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. Others listed are former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara; and former Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja.

Also expelled are former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki; former Presidential Adviser, Ben Obi; PDP elder, Chief Bode George; and former Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum.

Additional names on the list include Okechukwu Obiechina, Emmanuel Ogidi, Emmanuel Ebien, Suleiman Kadade Mohammed, Sunmaila Adamu Bunza, Koshoedo Setonji, Daniel Woyengikuro, and Umar Sani.

The faction expressed concern that several of the expelled members continue to speak and act on behalf of the party, describing the behaviour as an “embarrassing misrepresentation.” It urged the public to disregard any statements or meetings convened by the affected individuals.

It specifically dismissed a recent gathering in Ibadan involving some of them, saying it was merely a social event “masquerading as a convention,” and not a recognised national meeting of the PDP.

“Anybody parading himself as a newly elected national officer of the party is an impostor and a meddlesome interloper,” Anyanwu warned.

The latest disclaimer comes just 24 hours after the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction issued a counter-statement claiming that Wike, Anyanwu, former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, and others were no longer PDP members.

The escalating wave of suspensions and counter-expulsions continues to deepen the internal crisis rocking the opposition party, with both factions accusing each other of anti-party activities and claiming legitimacy.
